NEW LT3500 AUTO SENSE CURRENT

Fernando Arenas, the chief executive of LCI’s Spanish distributor Calor y Frio, is delighted with LCI’s newly launched upgraded LT3500 power sensing timer. This long established popular timer has been further developed to enable it to differentiate between standby and operating modes on the equipment being controlled by the timer.

This feature assumes great importance when heaters, TVs and air conditioning equipment are being controlled where often the amount of current being drawn between standby and operating can be very small resulting in the pre upgraded meter sometimes counting down in standby mode.

Fernando has reported that as a direct result of the upgrade he has taken a large order from a hospital wanting to control TVs for use by patients as well as receiving an influx of enquiries for the control of air conditioning equipment.

Back in the UK, Chris Yard LCI’s Technical Manager also commented that, like the rest of the LT range the new LT3500 is quick and easy to set up and with the auto current sense mode it makes a great addition to LCI’s coin operated timer range.

Laurie Fairhurst, Managing Director of LCI, prophesised that the investment on developing the upgraded LT3500 will be recovered well within the first year of the sales launch.

RE-SETTING LT, ET AND WYVERN 2000 METERS MADE EASIER!

LCI has launched a range of Video Tutorials aimed at giving their customers even better technical support especially outside normal working hours.

The videos give a pictorial presentation of re-setting the credit allowed time on the LT and ET meters as well as changing a number of settings on the multi- faceted Wyvern 2000 meter.

Chris Yard, the LCI Technical Manager, commented: “This new facility enables customers to re-set meters at any time by merely logging in to Customer Support on the LCI website, however, if required, the LCI technical support team will still be available to assist customers with re-setting queries during normal working hours”.

Sales of LCI's versatile ET 30 Meter have received a boost from the introduction of new legislation requiring the Organizers of large open air events to provide on site washing and toilet facilities. This has resulted in large numbers of mobile shower/WC units being placed on sites and in an effort to help defray the resultant big increase in operating costs event organizers are installing LCI token operated ET 30 Meters on each mobile unit.

LCI's sales executive Pauline Davis commented that this was just one more example of the versatility of the ET30 Meter which has achieved record sales during the last 12 months.

CHRISTMAS GREETING AND SHUTDOWN ARRANGEMENTS

The staff of LCI, not only wish all of our customers a Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year, but also to thank all of you for your valuable support during what has been a very difficult year.

LCI closes for the Christmas and New Year holiday break at midday on Friday 24^th December and re-opens at 8.00am on Tuesday 4^th January 2011.

Orders for meters and equipment required before Christmas must be received by no later than 17^th December whilst orders for consumables such as tokens and magnetic cards must be received by 22^nd December. If any customer inadvertently misses the order deadline and is desperate, call us and as usual we will do our best to help, but be warned there will be nobody in the office after midday on 24^th December!

Finally, all of us at LCI will be striving in 2011 to maintain and, wherever possible, improve upon the service we give our customers in order that we can earn your continued support throughout next year.

A GUIDE TO PROGRAMMING THE LT 3100 COIN OPERATED TIMER

Leisure Controls International is committed to you, our customer, in helping you get the best out of all out coin meters and token operated timers. Over the next few months we will be posting simple ‘How to’ instructions on setting up our timers.

This month we will be looking at the LT3100 Coin operated meter which is one of the leading products made by Leisure Controls International. As well coin operated the LT3100 can also be set as a token operated timer.

One of the most asked questions our Technical team gets asked is how to change the session time of our timers, and this guide will show you how.

To change any of the settings you will need the coin box key, this is the one you use to empty the tokens or coins. The power must also be applied to the meter.

1) Remove the coin box.
a. The display will change to show you how many coins or tokens are in the coin box.

2) Press and release the right hand button (also know as the ‘B’ button) until the display shows either St.01 or St.02 (refer to table 1 for the correct St setting)

3) Press and release the left hand button (also know as the ‘A’ button) once.
a. The display will now show the time per session.

4) Depending on the time mode you set, [either Hours and Minutes or Minutes and Seconds] will depend on how you proceed.
a. You can tell in which mode the timer is set by the min/sec dot. It will be flashing if in minutes and seconds. And not flashing if in Hours and minutes.

5) If you wish to set the session time to be, for example 3 minutes and the timer is set to minutes and seconds, then press and release the left hand button twice.
a. The second digit will be flashing

6) Press and release the Right hand button until the digit changes to a three.

a. The display will stop flashing, and show you the set session time.

8) If you wish to set the session time to be, for example 3 minutes and the timer is set to Hour and Minutes, then press and release the left hand button four times.

WHOLE BODY VIBRATING MACHINES REPLACING SUNBEDS

With the steady decline in the Sunbed Industry many sunbed salon owners have been installing Whole Body Vibrating Machines to help offset the decline in sunbed revenue. These machines can be purchased, leased or operated on a profit share basis. The latter option is proving popular as no large upfront payment is required and payments to the Machine Supplier can be made directly from machine revenues.

Leisure Controls International Ltd, one of the UK's largest manufacturers of coin, card and bank note operated timers, has for many years been supplying the LT 3200 magnetic card operated timer to sunbed manufacturers for use on sunbed profit share systems. These systems operate through the sunbed manufacturers’ supplying sunbeds together with LT3200 mag card timers to sunbed salon owners who would then purchase a quantity of mag cards from the sunbed manufacturer and re-sell these cards at a higher price to sunbed users who inserted them into the timers in order to operate the sunbeds.

Over the last decade Leisure Controls International had been experiencing a reduction in the sales of the LT3200 in line with the decline in the sunbed industry.

However, during the last 12 months there has been a resurgence in demand for the LT3200 Timer as Whole Body Vibrating Machine suppliers have been delivering large quantities of these machines to salon owners, in many cases in conjunction with LT3200 Timers to operate Profit Share Schemes in exactly the same manner as the long established sunbed schemes.

POWER CONSERVATION IN HOT CLIMES

Traditionally, Following the annual Wimbledon Tennis Championships, Leisure Controls International, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of coin, card and bank note operated timing controllers, experiences a surge in demand for LT 3100 and Wyvern 2000 coin and card operated timers which are ideally suited for the control of tennis court lighting.

The current year of 2010 proved no exception but, unusually, there was a big increase in demand from hot climate countries such as Cyprus, Spain and the West Indies. On investigation it appears that the progressively hotter summers has resulted in more tennis being played in the cooler evenings when lighting assistance is required.

The LT3100 and Wyvern 2000 coin operated meters incorporate a secondary relay which enables the meter to be wired to a pre-end warning device such as a light or buzzer, warning the players that the meter needs to be fed in order to avoid an expensive lamp start up operation.

LCI are proud to be manufacturing coin timer products, in particular the LT3100S air conditioner timing controller and the Wyvern 2000 and LT coin meter ranges for controlling tennis court lighting, which help to limit the use of expensive power in hot climates.

Commenting on the recent surge in hairdryer meter sales experienced by Leisure Controls International Ltd, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of coin, card and bank note operated timing controllers, the Chairman John Brooks stressed the important role the Company is playing in helping to control the use of key resources such as power and water.

John went on to highlight that the majority of the sales increase has occurred on push button controlled hairdryer models which emphasises customers concern over conserving the use of power in those areas where making a cash charge would not be appropriate.

A New Website - A New Opportunity.

Leisure Controls International, one of the UK’s leading manufacturer of timing controllers, has been eagerly planning their new website over the past year. It has now been live since May 2010 and has proved a great success. The site has been built in-house by technical manager Chris Yard. His programming knowledge has allowed LCI to expand into functionalities that previously were not available. These improvements have enabled the site to meet our target audiences' needs with improved navigation and a clear separation of our product categories including relevant information for each item listed. The biggest step forward has been the integrated e-commerce function allowing customers to purchase their chosen products there and then.

In the first month the new site has generated substantially more traffic especially from search engines as well as producing a lot of positive customer feedback. Technical Manager, Chris Yard, is currently working on a forum facility allowing members to post questions and share ideas for enhanced customer interaction.

LCI Managing Director Laurie Fairhurst recently said - "We are so pleased with the new website, but hearing it from our customers on the phone makes it all worth while. Now, with no limits in terms of site developments, we are looking to add multiple features to the site by autumn this year and making the site better than we would have ever imagined it."

ENERGY SAVING IN SPAIN

Soluciones y Montajes Sistemas the Spanish distributor of Leisure Controls International Ltd, one of the UK’s leading manufacturer of timing controllers principally operated by coins, cards or banknotes, has just been awarded a contract for the supply of a large number of LT 3100S meters for use in the control of air conditioning units on a large holiday complex in Benidorm Spain.

Senor Fernando Alveraz, the Chief Executive of the distributorship emphasised the importance of the flexibility of the LT 3100S in obtaining the contract. The meter has all the features of the LT3100 but is also fitted with a STOP/START facility. When the STOP button is pressed the air conditioner turns off and the meter ceases to count down. When the START button is pressed the air conditioner restarts and the meter recommences counting down. Importantly this meter can be used in conjunction with all types of air conditioning equipment.

Fernando went on to explain that the meter will be instrumental in the saving of valuable energy through hotel and holiday guests only using the meter whilst on site and not running the air conditioning when offsite thus avoiding the waste of scarce energy resources.

Fernando stressed the importance of controlling power usage particularly in Spain where the explosion in the use of air conditioners due to the progressively hotter summers has resulted in severe power shortages with a consequent increase in power supply prices.

Summing up, Laurie Fairhurst MD of Leisure Controls International stressed that the receipt of this contract is yet further evidence of the Company’s commitment to the use of its products in the control of high energy consuming products in order to play its part in the promotion of a greener environment.

MENAGE A TROIS!

Chris Yard, Technical Manager of Leisure Controls International Ltd one of the UK’s leading manufacturer of timing controllers principally operated by coins, cards or banknotes, recently commented that he has been amazed by the number of meters being sold for use on controlling horse ménage lighting; so much so that he asked a customer why she had particularly selected the LT 3100 timer to control her ménage lighting.

Interestingly, she replied that there were THREE very good reasons:-

1] The timing control of lighting has resulted in large power consumption savings which not only reduced the riding stable’s running costs but also helped the environment for previously the lights were often left on all evening.

2] The LT 3100 meter is easy to use and also acts as a booking controller as the lights extinguish at the end of the designated time.

3] Lastly but not least the LT 3100 timer is discreet and attractively styled and designed which avoids the stigma sometimes associated with metering.

LAUNCH OF LCI’S BANK NOTE OPERATED TIMER RESULTS IN HIGHER EXPORT SALES

Pauline Davis Sales Manager of Leisure Controls International Ltd, the UK’s leading manufacturer of coin and card operated timing controllers for the Leisure Industry, advised a number of key customers last week that she has been delighted with the increase in sales orders directly arising from the recent launch of LCI’s Note Operated Timer.

Pauline further elaborated by explaining that, although large quantities of the Wyvern 2000 Coin Operated Timer had been sold throughout the UK during the last 3 years for controlling the use of Hair Straighteners in Pubs and Clubs, little success had been achieved in export markets. This situation had arisen through many countries having low value bank notes which can’t be used in a Coin Operated Timer. However, with the introduction of the new Wyvern 2000 Note Operated Timer this problem has been overcome with the result that export sales are now flourishing, in particular to countries such as Korea, Indonesia, Russia and the USA.
